Hoy a las 7 de la tarde se realizara una manifestacion para repudiar la visita de los Minutemen a Greensboro. Este es un grupo de vigilantes que ha militarizado la frontera de Mexico. Unete a esta manifestacion para demostrarles que el racismo y la injusticia no nos es indiferente.

Why We Are Demonstrating

The Minutemen are a racist anti-immigrant organization that conducts armed patrols of the U.S.-Mexico border. In a short time they have polarized the national immigration debate and garnered support from a fairly large section of the population-- mostly disaffected members of the middle-class, as well as former cops and prison guards, right-wing shock radio DJ's, and disgruntled military vets. Although they publicly deny their overlap with fascist groups, they have had open connections to organizations like the neo-Nazi National Alliance.
The Minutemen represent a serious and growing threat to America's immigrant population and Latino immigrants in particular. They have helped to create a climate in which racist scapegoating of immigrants has become commonplace. Racist attacks against Latinos are on the rise, and so are fascist organizations in general. The Southern Poverty Law Center reports a 33% rise in the number of hate groups in America over the last five years. The project began a year ago as a small band along the Arizona border and has grown rapidly since. Minuteman Project founder James Gilchrist received 25% of the vote in a recent California Congressional election without the support of either major party. The Minutemen are frequently featured on radio and cable television by racist demagogues like CNN's Lou Dobbs, and they are even consulted in mainstream papers like The New York Times in articles about immigration.
In light of their rapid rise to prominence and intensified recruitment efforts, we believe that the Minutemen cannot simply be laughed-off, ignored, or dismissed as fringe lunatics. They represent an emboldened and rapidly growing far-right movement in this country and it is not acceptable for them to recruit and gain a foothold in North Carolina. Organized Minutemen and their sympathizers pose a very serious and violent threat to North Carolina's immigrant community. We stand in absolute solidarity with immigrants and their allies, and unequivocally against the racist Minuteman Project. This is why we are demonstrating.

¡El Proyecto Los Minutemen Viene A Greensboro el 10 de Mayo!

El Proyecto Los Minutemen es un grupo vigilante derechista que se lanzo como una banda patrullera fronteriza en la frontera de Arizona con México. El grupo ha conducido patrullas armadas a lo largo de la frontera de EE.UU. con México haciendo el cruzar la frontera aun más peligroso. Ellos son una organización profundamente racista cuyo deprecio por los inmigrantes ha traído a organizaciones de extrema derecha (como la Alianza Nacionalista Neo-Nazi) para unirse a sus rondas. La parada de los Minutemen en Greensboro será parte de la caravana que partirá en Los Ángeles y viajara por el Suroeste hasta el Sureste y se culminara en Washington, D.C. The Minutemen Project is coming to Greensboro on May 10th!

The Minutemen Project is a right-wing vigilante group
that launched itself as a border patrolling gang on
the Arizona-Mexico border. The group has conducted
armed patrols along the US-Mexico border making
crossing the border all the more dangerous. They are a
thoroughly racist organization whose contempt for
immigrants has attracted far-right organizations (like
the neo-NAZI National Alliance) to join their ranks.
Their stop in Greensboro will be a part of the
Minutemen Caravan which will start in LA and travel
through the Southwest to the Southeast and culminate
in Washington DC. They are targeting places with a
high number of immigrant communities and they are
coming to intimidate people. While they have not
announced their rally location, they have a 7pm time
set on May 10. We will meet them to counter this
hatred!
Come to the corner of Market and Eugene at 7pm on May
10th to tell the racist Minutemen they are not welcome
in North Carolina!!!
